Trekking, hiking:
The mixed influences of the Tarn's climate, oceanic and mediterranean is very pleasant. It is renowned for the famous 'vents d'autan'.
The scenery changes dramatically from one place to the other. From the Gaillac vineyards to the Gresigne forest, the plains of 'Lascaunais' to the hillsides of the 'Pays de Cocagne'. From the Sidobre to the Montagne Noire, the Tarn is a mozaic of different sceneries and with over 4000 kms of marked paths, it is ideal for hiking.
In particular, the GR7 which follows the 'Montagne Noir'. The GR653 better known as the Saint Jacques path which runs from the "Monts de Lacaune" to the "Lauragais" plain, or the GR36 which crosses the Tarn from north to south.
There are also lots of marked paths of various lengths in the immediate vicinity around Salvagnac.
Thanks to the "Conseil Régional", the "Comité Départemental de la Randonnée Pédestre" and numerous volunteers, the paths are well kept and all marked and kept in very good condition for nature lovers.
Some easy paths around Salvagnac :
• Sivens forest
• "Les Hauts de Maladène" (14 km)
• "Le Salvagnacois" (23 km)
